Sharing a post by: 171 Days ’til 40: Why Diets Don’t Work

September 2, 2012

(Note: The emailed notice came out a little confusing.  The linked post is not by me, but by a blogger I follow. See link to shared post below.)

Worrying about your overall health and body image can eat you alive (pardon the pun).  It can lead to debilitating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia, or it can throw you in the opposite direction of wanton consumption.

Why do we keep trying all manner of insane and inane gadgets, gizmos and regimens when the truth is plain and simple? Is it only a matter of being in denial that we have a serious problem, or that we just don’t want to have to give up anything at all? We want our cake and the whole buffet to boot?  Such a sad statement for any mature adult to be making when we have so much knowledge and so many options at our fingertips.

Reversing any lifelong habit is one tough road to go down.  It requires focus, determination, and not a little courage, not only to admit there’s a problem to begin with, but to also take the actual steps to remedy that problem.

I applaud all who have the courage to face that music and learn to sing!

This latest post from one of my favorite blogs says it all:
